    PERSONALITY
Keeva was a person who was easily overlooked. She was adept at hiding in plain sight, because she was very much a background kind of person. She was shy and quiet and unassuming and obedient to a fault. In fact, she was often mistaken for a servant because of just how obedient she was. Having lived her entire life in the Circle of Magi, her world view was very narrow and limited to what she'd experienced in the Circle. Being good meant you were treated well by the templars and there was no threat of tranquillity. She followed the rules and tried her best to be a mage that could exist safely within the Chantry's confines on magic.

She didn't even really feel a sense of betrayal at Jowan's use of blood magic. Instead she blamed herself for it. She honestly thought it was because she wasn't good enough that he'd been forced to use it to defend the woman he loved. Part of Keeva's core problem is that she takes things at face value. It hardly occurs to her that people could have ulterior motives and that is something Mouse pointed out to her during her Harrowing, which she would've failed if Mouse had taken her up on her invitation. Her morality is very black and white and her time in the Circle reinforced it for her big time (Blood magic and demons were "evil", following the Chantry's rules re: magic was "good").

Once she gets out into the world, she has to unlearn all of this. It's a slow process because she falters. A lot. Alistair foists all the responsibility on her and it such a shock to go from never really making any major decisions on her own to being the leader of an army, standing between the Blight and the people of Ferelden literally overnight. She has to learn to trust her instincts, something she has never had to do before. Irving had always been there to hold her hand and tell her when she was going to falter. So having to do this on her own saw her struggling.

Dealing with Connor was the first major decision she had to make on her own without the support of an authority figure. She was the Authority Figure. She wanted to go to the Circle and ask the mages for help, but she didn't know how long Connor would've been able to keep the demon pacified, as the trip there and back would've taken days. And ultimately she was thinking of the people in the village who'd been suffering for nights on end. Was Connor's life more important than theirs? It was a question she didn't have an answer to. She only knew what the templars in the Circle would've done. So she forced a confrontation with the demon and Connor died in the process.

It broke her heart to kill Connor, because he had not received any proper training, so he could hardly be blamed that a demon had taken advantage of him. Still, it had to be done, to save Redcliffe.

As time goes on, and Keeva begins to learn to rely on herself to make the right decisions, she begins to show more confidence in herself. Dealing with Bhelen and Harrowmont was an eye opener for her as well. She recalled Mouse's words about careless trust when she realized Harrowmont was not all he seemed to be. And while Bhelen left a bad taste in her mouth, she was convinced he would do what was best for Orzammar and the casteless, who were mistreated much like the elves were.

It was difficult for her to subscribe to the idea that the Wardens do what they must to combat the Blight. That sometimes terrible decisions had to be made to ensure the safety of everyone. She'd tried to make her heart hard, so that she couldn't be affected by the terrible decisions she had to make. But she is entirely too tender-hearted. When people ask her for help, she cannot deny them.

But this does introduce the idea that not all decisions are as black and white as they'd been before she'd left the Circle. Sometimes the more questionable or morally grey choice was in the best interest of everyone. This was how she was able to become the Dark Wolf.

The Blight changes her in ways she never anticipated, tested her and taught her that she didn't need other people to prop her up. She had the strength to stand on her own two feet. This is all tempered by the kind and compassionate person she'd always been at the start. Her desire is to help people and she does that the best way she can.
